Aeginio is a town in the prefecture of Pieria with 4280 inabitants,according to census 2011.It is the head of the municipality Pydna-Kolindros.To the northeast lies the Aliakmonas River,east of the Gulf of Thermaikos in the south and southwest lie the Olympus and Pieria.The residents are locals,refugees from Eastern Thrace(1923) and refugees in Eastern Rumilia (Kavakliotes and Akmpoinariotes,1925).The distance to Aeginio from Katerini is 32 km and from Thessaloniki 45 km.
Infrastructure
In Aeginio are currently three nursery schools,three Elementary schools(Aeginio transported in and go to primary school and children from neighboring villages Paliambela,registration,Lawn and Great Bridge).It is also a high school with gymnasium,school,tee,police station,health center, a branch of the Piraeus Bank of Greece,Tax office,branch IKA,ΚΕΠ,office of rural development,office of primary education and City Hall. There are two parishes.(Mary-Assumption, for the natives,the Thracians and Akmpounariotes and san Andreas for Kavakliotes).He has two old temples and the archeological department described the protected historic monuments and has under its supervision.this is the Peter and paul church,dated from 1400 and the church of st.Athanasius in the settlement of Kavaklioton dating from 1600.The settlement of Aeginio crossed by the old National Road Athens-Thessaloniki,but also from the land of the region and within one kilometer from the village passes and the New National road Athens-Thessaloniki,where there is a road junction.Also in contact with the settlement passes and the new double railway line with a new modern train station that now serves the suburban rail services to and from Thessaloniki every hour.In 1999 the implementation of the bill kapodistrias the neighbouring community of registration was under management in the municipality of Aeginio.

Main occupation of inhabitants are agriculture(cotton,tobacco,cereals,fruits)and trade.The Ministry of Agriculture described the area as the best in Greece for pilot farms
